Dr.
Peter Mbae, former Head of the Government Delivery Services, has formally petitioned the International Criminal Court (ICC) for a prompt, immediate, and urgent intervention following statements made by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on April 14 regarding the outcome of the 2027 Presidential Election.
The action comes in response to a statement by Murkomen at a public event on April 14, declaring that President William Ruto would secure re-election in 2027, under all circumstances. "We have sent a copy of this letter to the prosecutor of the ICC for prompt, immediate, and urgent interventions by the court to open an investigation on the Kenyan situation to prevent the possibility of a repeat 2007 violence," the letter reads.
The letter highlights that Murkomen also alluded to the 2007 Presidential election, which resulted in Post-Election Violence.
