A Meru-based community group commonly known as Imenti Development Forum (IDF) is making significant strides in empowering the youth at their early ages in matters Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Under its Chairman, Mr Mutuma Kigatira, the forum has embarked on a mission to bridge the digital divide by establishing ICT resource centers in various localities within Imenti region where young people visit to learn more about computers to prepare them for the existing world of computing and technology. "These centers, equipped with computers and internet access, are designed to provide young people within our region with the skills and tools necessary to thrive in today's technology-driven world. From basic computer literacy to advanced digital training, the initiative aims to open up new opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and include new farming trends," said Mr Kigatira.
He spoke during the commissioning of the Kathiranga and Ithimbari ICT centres in Imenti Central and Imenti South respectively.
The group is also set to open two more centres in Kithima (Buuri) and Ngiine in Imenti North.
