The National Police Service (NPS) has distanced itself from the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi.

In response to a viral video showing how the MP was found abandoned at a farm in Juja on Monday, the police criticized him for misleading the authorities.  "The MP has been under investigation for a land fraud matter, and consent to prosecute was issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

On Friday, May 23, the MP, fully aware of the police's intention to arrest him, evaded a dragnet operation, deceived officers by escaping on a motorcycle with his private security, and switched off his mobile phone," explained NPS.

The police added that they only intercepted his car, which was being driven by the driver who was later released after recording a statement.
