Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has announced the rollout of a Sh60 million Social Protection grant aimed at supporting vulnerable groups across the county.
Speaking in Malava Sub-County, the governor stated that the funds will be disbursed in July 2025 and will target women, youth, and persons with disabilities engaged in income-generating activities.
He said the ambitious initiative will benefit 1,200 registered groups, 20 groups per ward across all 60 wards in the region.
The Governor said each group is set to receive Sh 50,000 to boost their livelihood efforts and enhance economic self-reliance at the grassroots. "In July this year, my administration will release Sh 60 million under the Social Protection Grants Programme.
