Siaya County Commissioner Norbert Komora on Sunday called for concerted efforts to tackle security challenges in the county.

Addressing this year's Madaraka Day celebrations at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya town, Komora said there was a need for collaboration amongst all stakeholders instead of leaving everything in the hands of security officials.

The county commissioner, who was reacting to local leaders' concern over rising incidents of violent crimes and femicide in the county, assured the public that the security officers were committed to bringing to book those behind the incidents.

Earlier, local leaders led by South East Alego member of the county assembly, Scholastica Madowo, called for action to bring to a stop chilling incidents where schoolgirls have become a target.
