A family in Shanzu, Mombasa County, is appealing for financial help to facilitate a lifesaving liver transplant for their six-month-old baby, Abdullahi Wamboi, who has been diagnosed with neonatal hepatitis.

Neonatal hepatitis is a serious liver condition that causes inflammation and damage to the liver in newborns and, if untreated, can lead to liver failure.

According to the infant's mother, Naomi Wamboi Njuguna, Abdullahi developed jaundice at six weeks old and was first taken to Kilifi County Hospital.

He was later referred to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH), where tests and a surgical procedure revealed severe liver complications. "He underwent surgery at CGTRH, and doctors confirmed he needs a liver transplant.
