The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has launched a nationwide mobilisation programme after the botched attempt to execute the much-publicised party launch.

In a statement released after its inaugural National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the party headquarters, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's party announced a sweeping grassroots strategy aimed at boosting its influence across the country.

The party's planned launch at the Kasarani Sports Centre was cancelled after the venue's management allegedly cancelled the reservation, prompting the NEC to hold its first meeting since the party's official launch on May 17.

Following the cancellation, DCP directed its Secretary General, Cleophas Malala, to identify a private venue before the end of June where the party can hold the ceremony.  Once a venue is secured, a new launch date will be announced.
