Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed past protocol frustrations under President William Ruto's government, which ultimately compelled him to stand up for his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
Gachagua spoke during a church service in Kirinyaga County on Sunday, June 15, where he alleged State House handlers used to enforce discriminatory protocol policies that barred his wife from accompanying him to official functions.
According to Gachagua, the president and his team grew uncomfortable whenever Gachagua was in the company of his wife, yet the president's wife, Mama Rachel Ruto, was absent. "These people persecuted me and my wife when I was in office," Gachagua told the congregation. "Because the president did not want me to be with my wife when he was not with his, due to protocol."
