The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has dismissed allegations that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga called for Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat's reinstatement.

This is after ODM on Tuesday morning flagged a viral social media post purporting that its party leader allegedly demanded President William Ruto's intervention to restore Lagat's authority.

The post, which was flagged as 'fake' by the ODM, claimed that Odinga defended Lagat, citing that the latter only made a legitimate legal complaint after he was defamed.

According to the misleading post, Raila claimed that Lagat did nothing wrong and that the Head of State and the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, should immediately intervene to ensure Lagat resumes duty.
