Residents and traders in Kekorongole, in Loima Sub-county, have established a Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCO) to enhance financial inclusion and provide affordable credit facilities for small business owners.

Director Ebulon emphasized that the SACCO would benefit not only traders but also the wider community by fostering a culture of savings. "We have so far facilitated the formation of over 60 SACCOs across Turkana, and we remain committed to supporting them through their formative years," said Director Ebulon.

An elected official of the cooperative, Petronilla Nanok, revealed that the motivation to establish the SACCO stemmed from county-led sensitisation efforts on financial inclusion. "After seeing new SACCOs being formed across the county, Kekorongole residents and traders felt the need to create their own.
