The agency, in a notice to the public issued on Wednesday, announced the temporary suspension of train services for Nairobi-Ruiru, Nairobi-Embakasi village, Nairobi-Lukenya, and Nairobi-Syokimau. ''We wish to notify members of the public that commuter train services for Nairobi- Ruiru, Nairobi- Embakasi village, Nairobi- Lukenya, and Nairobi Syokimau have been temporarily suspended,'' Kenya Railways shared in a statement. According to the railways' Managing Director, Philip Mainga, they were compelled to take the suspension as a precaution for public safety. ''We are compelled to take these precautionary measures because the safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us.
We will advise you once normal services resume.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.'' Already, movement in and out of the CBD has been paralysed following the skirmishes between the police and the protestors.
