The County Government of Turkana has initiated the development of a Ten-Year Physical and Land Use Plan for Turkwel Urban Centre, following a stakeholder validation forum held to gather public input and align planning with community needs.
The strategic plan, anchored in the County Spatial Plan 2023-2033, seeks to guide sustainable land use, improve infrastructure, and support projected population growth in Turkwel.
The Department of Lands and Physical Planning convened the forum in Turkwel Ward, drawing participation from local residents, opinion leaders, and officials from the National Land Commission.
Speaking during the session, Chief Officer for Lands and Physical Planning Leah Losiru emphasised the importance of inclusive planning.
