The Judiciary has set aside a budget to procure CCTV Cameras to install in high traffic court stations in the country, with a view to improving their overall security.
The Judiciary Chief Registrar (CR) Winfridah Mokaya said that the monies will also procure body scanners and screening equipment to bolster physical surveillance and access control in high-traffic court stations. "These efforts are part of the broader commitment to ensure that every Judge, Magistrate, staff member and court user operates within a safe, secure and dignified environment because access to justice must never be compromised by fear or insecurity," said Mokaya during the 12th Annual Heads of Stations Forum at a Hotel in Wote Town in Makueni County.
The CR disclosed that the judiciary has concluded the procurement from the national Youth service (NYS) for deployment of trained security personnel across all Nairobi based courts to supplement existing frameworks.
During the forum, she further said that they have deployed guest Management systems at Makadara and the Supreme Court building on a pilot basis, before rolling out this to other court stations.
