The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain and significantly colder-than-normal nights over the next five days for Nairobi and several other parts of the country.

In its latest update on Monday evening, the department highlighted that nighttime temperatures in Nairobi County and surrounding highland counties-Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi-could drop as low as 7°C, with occasional light showers expected at night.

Daytime weather in these counties is forecast to be mostly cloudy with passing light rains, breaking into sunny spells until midday or early afternoon.

Afternoon and night showers will also be possible for the whole week.  Despite the cool nights, daytime temperatures are expected to warm up to around 25°C across the Eastern Highlands of the Rift Valley.
