Three activists who were arrested on suspicion of fueling the violence during the Wednesday, June 25, protests have been granted a cash bail of Ksh200,000 a week after the arrests.

Speaking on Wednesday, July 2, their lawyer revealed that the three, John Mulingwa Nzau, Mark Amiani and Mutunge Mwangi, would be released within the day.

However, they have also been issued several conditions by the magistrate, including desisting from activities that landed them in jail, a condition that the lawyer admitted might be tough, as they are human rights activists. "I do not know how they will desist because a human rights defender is a human rights defender," he stated.
