At least one person has been shot in Mukuru kwa Njenga, Nairobi County, as protests during Saba Saba Day took a violent turn on Monday, July 7.  The individual was reportedly shot by a rubber bullet, which hit him on one of his limbs, rendering him unable to walk.  The civilian was rushed to the hospital, where he received urgent treatment.

It remains unclear whether he was among the protesters on the streets.  This comes as protests around the country continue, with at least one person reportedly injured in Kitengela, Kajiado County.
