Days after being summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has declined to honour the summons.
In an official statement dated July 14, shared by her legal representative, Ndegwa Njiru, the lawmaker cited constitutional grounds challenging the validity of the law under which she was summoned.
According to Advocate Njiru, the summons is based on a section of the Penal Code that was declared unconstitutional in 2017.
The summons, dated July 11, called for the MP to present herself at the DCI headquarters for questioning regarding an alleged offence of undermining the authority of a public officer.
