Uasin Gishu county is rolling out key initiatives at the grassroots to empower residents through sustainable livelihoods while promoting climate-resilient practices.

Implemented through the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) Programme, the activities have marked a major milestone in Kipsomba Ward, with the official handover of 220 modern beehives together with 22 complete harvesting kits to local cooperative societies.

Mary Goreti, Member of County Assembly (MCA) for the area, who presided over the event alongside key officials from the Climate Change Unit and the Department of Water, lauded the beekeeping initiative as a practical economic empowerment tool for local communities. "I urge all beneficiaries to take this opportunity seriously and maximise the benefits of beekeeping as a livelihood venture.

Honey production is not only profitable but also environmentally friendly," said Goreti.
