The County Government of Kisumu has appealed to members of the public to show up and identify seven bodies lying at Nyakach County Hospital mortuary before they are disposed of. According to a public notice issued by Nyakach Sub-County Public Health Officer Marie Amollo, the bodies have stayed at the morgue for over six months and the county will seek authority to dispose of them if uncollected in 21 days. "The notice takes 21 days from 21st January 2025 to 12th February 2025 upon which interment will be done to the seven unclaimed bodies through a court order without further notice as per Public Health Act, Cap 242," read the notice in part. The records of the seven unclaimed bodies include, five unknown male African adults admitted on 12th May 2024, 31st May 2024, 3rd June 2024, 29th July 2024 and 5th September 2024 respectively. The others include an unknown female African adult who was admitted on 12th May 2024 and one male adult identified as David Onyango Edwa who was admitted on 4th August 2024.
