Residents of the Gituto area in Wangu Ward participated in a public forum to resolve a dispute arising from the proposed location of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centre.
The TVET centre whose proposed construction site is in Gatheru has caused serious disagreement among local people.
The meeting, which was a follow-up on an earlier session, was spearheaded by Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, who emphasised the importance of involving the community in decision-making on public projects. "I have postponed the launch of the construction in Gatheru because leadership means working for and with the people," he said. "It is important for leaders to walk with the people they serve, rather than making unilateral decisions," he added.
He urged residents to be patient and assured them that their views would be taken into consideration as he stressed the need for leaders to prioritise the needs of their constituents.
