Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi has been charged with faking his own abduction to avoid arrest and prosecution over alleged land fraud.
Koimburi appeared at the Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, July 23, where he faced multiple charges, including conspiracy to defeat justice and publishing false information.
According to the ODPP, charges of publishing false information stemmed from a video released by Koimburi on June 7 while he was at Karen Hospital, in which he alleged that he had been abducted and tortured.
The prosecution claimed that the video was an attempt by the lawmaker to mislead the public since no abduction was ever proven to have taken place and the fake kidnapping on May 25, 2025 in the Mugutha area of Juja sub-county in Kiambu County was a well-orchestrated plot.
