The former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, has called for the arrest of police officers who were responsible for attacking his allies as they were leaving a church service in Murang'a on Sunday.
In a statement on his official X account on Sunday, July 27, the former DP claimed that the police officers in the country should always ensure that they follow the constitution as they carry out their duties and refrain from being used to conduct "barbaric acts." According to Gachagua, top security chiefs, including the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, as well as the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kipchumba Murkomen, should focus on ensuring that every Kenyan citizen is well protected. "I call for the immediate arrest and arraignment of these criminals and police officers.
I want to remind the police officers being misused by William Ruto and, by extension, the inspector general of police, Douglas Kanja, that justice will be served no matter how long it takes," Gachagua said.
