The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has decried unfavorable working conditions for journalists in counties.
The Council has expressed concern over the poor working conditions faced by journalists working in counties, hindering their ability to effectively inform the public.
MCK CEO David Omwoyo said that the closure of bureau offices has forced journalists to work from unsuitable and unsafe locations such as hotels, bars and court corridors.
Omwoyo divulged that during a recent visit to the regions, the Council observed that several journalists are polling resources to rent small offices, which further strains their already limited resources and income. "Without proper workspaces, journalists face significant challenges in creating and disseminating credible content to the public," said Omwoyo.
