Consolata Nabwire Wakwabubi has been sworn in as a nominated senator, following her nomination by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Nabwire replaces Gloria Orwoba, who lost her seat after being expelled from UDA for alleged disloyalty.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi administered the oath of office during a special sitting on Wednesday, August 20.
Senators later congratulated Wakwabubi and offered words of advice.
Senate Majority Whip Bonny Khalwale praised her role in UDA's 2022 campaigns and underscored the importance of party discipline. "This is a crowning moment for the effort that the UDA has gone through in appreciating the contribution of one of the women who made a huge difference during our campaigns to ensure that the President forms government," remarked Khalwale.
