A huge fire burned down part of the Khoja Flats near the Sakina Mosque in Mombasa on Friday night, 22 August 2025.
Footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke showed thick smoke billowing from the offices on the top floor of the building, which is located opposite the mosque.
According to witness reports, the Mombasa fire brigade responded promptly to the emergency.
Fire engines were deployed to the scene shortly after the fire broke out and the firefighters worked to extinguish the flames before they could spread to neighbouring buildings.
