Traffic was temporarily disrupted along Thika Superhighway after a bus attached to the Super Metro Sacco was set ablaze along the busy highway.

In images obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the bus was completely engulfed in flames as a crowd watched in anticipation on the afternoon of Monday, September 1.

Preliminary reports indicate the bus was descended upon by irate operators after it allegedly knocked down and killed a bodaboda rider, leaving him with fatal head injuries.  By Monday evening, the bus was burnt beyond reasonable repair, but there were no reports of any further injuries from the incident.  Super Metro bus burnt beyond recognition along Thika Road on Monday, September 1 2025.

Photo @mc_collins55 Moments before the incident, reports were rife on social media from users purporting to be at the scene, calling for help, alleging the bus was on the verge of being torched by unnamed people.  It remains unclear whether there were passengers aboard the bus at the time of the incident.
