The impact of US President Donald Trump's decision to slash foreign aid funding is now being felt in Kenya, with several agencies beginning to suspend their programmes.

Among the affected initiatives are the United Society Against Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (USAWA) programme and the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

The USAWA programme, operated under the US Agency for International Development (USAID), has also suspended its activities in Kenya.

Launched last year, the programme aimed to strengthen fiscal accountability, health governance, and citizen engagement within Kenya's healthcare sector, targeting Isiolo, Kakamega, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Nakuru counties. "We have received a stop-work/suspension of work notification from USAID regarding the USAWA programme.
