Residents of Butula have warmly welcomed the announcement by President William Ruto of the planned construction of the Butula-Nambale-Amukura road.

The residents, who want the project to implemented the soonest, noted that they felt their prayers of many decades have been answered as the road will play a crucial role in helping the residents of the three sub-counties with great potential of economic gains. "This road will be an answered prayers to both edible oil and sugar sector as it will help farmers explore their market potential with presence of two sugar factories in the county and an Export Processing Zone at Nasewa," said Bramuel Musungu a resident of Malanga.

The over 35km stretch is expected to be completed by June 2026 which will be a sigh of relief to the residents.

While touring Busia County, he made the declaration pointing out that the development would stimulate the economy in the area due to improved transport and trade activities.
