The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has cautioned motorists against parking on roadsides, road reserves, roadways, bridges, and tunnels.

In its Commercial Service Vehicle regulations, the Authority noted that where no designated parking areas have been provided, the driver must park the vehicle at least two metres from the edge of the road or roadsides.

According to NTSA, parking at the edge of the road prevents pedestrians from using the pathway, obstructs the view of other road users, and affects the safe operation of the road. "No carrier or owner shall request, require, or allow a driver to park, and no driver shall park in undesignated parking areas, including but not limited to roadsides, road reserves, roadways, bridges, or tunnels," NTSA stated.
