Residents of Maua in Igembe South Sub-County have been urged to desist from illegal water connections as authorities step up enforcement measures.

Maua Town Municipal Manager Timothy Mwenda issued the stern warning stating that anyone caught engaging in unauthorized water connections will face penalties or legal action.

Mwenda emphasized the importance of following legal procedures, when accessing water services, stressing that illegal connections not only lead to water shortages, but also pose a significant risk to the town's water distribution system, which could ultimately affect all residents. "The law is clear on the issue of illegal connections, and we will not hesitate to take action against those flouting the rules," he stated.

The Municipal Manager urged residents to assist in protecting the provision of water services by reporting any suspicious activities or illegal connections to help in safeguarding water resources.
