Motorists using the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Saturday afternoon were stuck in a traffic snarl-up in the Timboroa area for hours.
Images of the snarl-up seen by Kenyans.co.ke depicted motorists headed towards Nakuru grounded to a standstill as the traffic was stationary.
The other lane was all clear, with barely any vehicle seen moving in the opposite lane.
The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, however, the increased number of vehicles on the road can be attributed to people returning to Nairobi from upcountry after the just concluded holiday season.
