Kenya National Hospital (KNH) has confirmed CCTV cameras were operational when a male patient was killed in a hospital ward, adding that security measures have been enhanced as investigations continue.

Gilbert Kinyua, 40, was found dead Friday morning with his throat slit in what is suspected to be an attack by an intruder.

His body was discovered at around 6 a.m.

KNH acting CEO William Sigilai issued a statement on Sunday, January 9, saying the hospital is working with law enforcement agencies and has launched an internal probe. "We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident involving the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital.
