Butula MP Joseph Oyula has urged parents to be vigilant and take up responsibility by ensuring there are parents in the lives of their children to curb the cases of unrest and substance abuse among school-going children.
The legislator spoke after handing over two classrooms at Dadira Comprehensive School, which was constructed by NGCDF Butula Sub-County, Busia County, to accommodate Grade 9 learners in an effort to support the implementation of the CBC programme. "A good parent must have adequate opportunity to monitor, nurture and groom their children to be responsible citizens.
This is the only way we will mitigate cases of child neglect in Busia," said Oyula.
He stressed the need for parents to support learning institutions by ensuring they pay school fees for the smooth operation of school. "The bursary from the government is only meant to supplement efforts by parents.
