Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been jailed for 12 years, a day after he was found guilty in a Sh588 million graft case alongside his wife and four others.
His wife, Susan Wangari, has been handed a one-year jail term and Sh500,000 fine in default.
Millimani Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki has further barred Waititu, his wife and the co-accused from holding any public office for 10 years.
Waititu's other co-accused are businessman Charles Mbuthia Chege, his wife Beth Wangechi, and former Kiambu Roads Chief Officer Luka Mwangi Wahinya.
