Nyandarua Senator John Methu has written to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi urging him to convene a special seating to discuss the unresolved cases of abductions currently rocking the country.

In the letter shared by the lawmaker through his X account on Monday, January 6, Methu noted that the calls for an end to abductions were a matter of national importance that needed Parliamentary intervention.

According to Senator Methu, the continuous abduction of Kenyans raised deep national concern as it infringed on the fundamental human rights and freedoms enshrined in our Constitution. "Notwithstanding the provisions of Standing Order No. 33 (1), I wish to request your approval for a Special Sitting of the Senate to deliberate on a matter of critical national importance, namely: The end of forced abductions and disappearances of young government critics," read part of Methu's letter.
