Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir has announced an increase in the number of stalled weighbridges across the country as part of the government's ongoing efforts to enhance transport efficiency.
To improve monitoring and enforcement, Chirchir disclosed the installation of 28 additional weighbridges, which will include both virtual and static stations. "In exercise of the powers conferred by regulation 9(2) of the Kenya Roads (Kenya National Highways Authority) Regulations, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport increases the number of installed weighbridges set out in Part II of the Schedule of the Regulations, with the weighbridges set out in the Schedule hereto," part of the official notice stated.
The newly introduced static weighbridges include Kikambala along the A7 highway, Kanyonyo along the A3, Awendo along the A1, Dongo Kundu along the Mombasa Southern Bypass A8, and Laisamis along the A2.
