The Kenya Metrological Department has forecasted weekend rainfall in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, and Machakos, among other counties in the country, as the March-April-May long rains season begins.  In the five-day weather forecast covering the period from Saturday, March 1, to Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Kenya Met outlines expectations for showers in at least 20 counties over the next five days.

And despite the rainfall, temperatures will remain high in most parts of the country over the next five days.

The outlook for the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka, will have showers in the afternoon on Saturday and Sunday. The light showers, according to the Met, are set to continue from Monday through Wednesday, especially in areas around Mount Kenya and Aberdares.

Temperatures in Nairobi and the other regions on the Highlands East of the Rift Valley are expected to reach a high of 32°C on Saturday, remaining around the 30°C mark between Sunday and Tuesday.
