Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County is undergoing a facelift ahead of hosting this year's national Madaraka Day celebrations.
Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS), Salim Mvurya, said the project will cost Sh 500,000 and is expected to be completed by 20th May this year.
He said it involves putting up new terraces with a seating capacity of 10,000 around the main pitch.
To ensure that the stadium meets the specifications to enable it to host the national event, the National government partnered with the county government of Homa Bay to improve the stadium.
