Wafula Chebukati's daughter, Nekesa Chebukati, has revealed that there was an attempt on the life of the late former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman during the 2022 general elections.
Speaking during Chebukati's burial on Saturday, March 8, Nekesa said that Chebuti had received intelligence that someone had ordered for him to be killed to block him from announcing the election's results.
Despite the threats, Nekesa asserted that her father did not show any sign of backing down in announcing the results. "On the day, just a moment before he went to Bomas to announce the results, at that time he had already received intelligence that somebody wanted to end his life to stop him from announcing the results," she stated.
