The Nyahururu Anti-Corruption Court has found former Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Mwangi guilty of procurement-related offences.

The charges stem from a contract awarded in 2014 without adherence to procurement procedures.

Waithaka was convicted alongside Grace Wanjiru Gitonga, the former County Executive Committee Member for Water, Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources, for approving a project without proper planning and issuing a Sh50 million contract to M/s TAHAL Consulting Engineers Ltd.

The court found them guilty of two other charges of engaging in a project without prior planning and wilful failure to comply with procurement laws.
