Maternal healthcare in Busia County has received a boost after Rainbow 4 Afrika UK donated ultrasound machines to Matayos level IV and Angurai hospitals.
The two hospitals become the third and fourth to receive the ultrasound machines, which costs Sh1.2 million each, which have previously been donated to Sio Port and Nangina Mission Hospitals Speaking during the handover of the machine at Matayos Level IV hospital, Busia County Deputy Governor, Arthur Odera, said this will help to save the lives of mothers and children during birth. "This machine will help to prevent the death of our pregnant mothers and children during birth and other related problems," he said.
Odera added that the machine would detect any problem with the unborn child and treatment to be done in advance in order to save the life of the child and the mother," he said.
The DG also said that the x-ray machine, which has been at Matayos Level IV hospital since 2022, will start to work in July. "We have an X-Ray machine that was purchased in 2022 but we had not prepared a place for the machine.
