The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on Saturday evening cautioned 3 nightclubs in the Lavington area of Nairobi County to enforce mechanisms to mitigate noise pollution.

In a statement, the authority cautioned that the three clubs risked being shut down if they failed to enforce the mechanisms.

NEMA argued that the lack of noise pollution control measures was affecting the largely residential neighbourhoods of Kilimani and Lavington, which are considered high-brow estates. "NEMA environmental inspectors accompanied by NEMA police unit officers today undertook an inspection in Lavington and  Kilimani areas and issued orders to three clubs to immediately put in place robust Noise pollution control measures, failure to which the facilities face closure," read the directive in part.
