At least 50 landowners are set to be affected by planned projects from two different companies including the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO).
Through a Gazette notice dated Friday, December 27, the land owners were notified that the transmission company intends to acquire a way-leave corridor on several parcels of land.
The move is meant to facilitate the construction of 1.5km-400/200kv substation.
KETRACO also intends to construct towers and conductors overlying the individuals' pieces of land. "In pursuance of sections 143, 144, and 146 of the Land Act, 2012, the National Land Commission on behalf of Kenya Electricity Transmission Company Limited (KETRACO) gives notice that the National Government intends to acquire a wayleave corridor on parcels of land listed below for the construction of 1.5km-400/200kv Kimuka Substation and Associated TL in Kajiado County," the Gazette notice read.
