The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued advisories to Kenyans caught in the devastating earthquakes that hit the Southeast Asian countries over the weekend. In a statement by the Principal Secretary of Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, the government has expressed its deep concern for the citizens of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and The Kingdom of Thailand after a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck the two nations. ''The Government of the Republic of Kenya expresses deep concern for its citizens and citizens of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and The Kingdom of Thailand following the recent powerful earthquake that struck the two countries.
We stand in solidarity with all those affected by this disaster,'' a statement from the Ministry signed by Njogu read in part.
In its advisory, the government of Kenya has advised Kenyans in the two foreign nations to stay alert and monitor updates of local news and official alerts for real-time information on aftershocks and emergency measures.
