Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has directed police officers to immediately commence detailed investigations into an accident that claimed the lives of four people, including three pupils.

The governor, in a statement on Wednesday afternoon, ordered traffic officers to expedite the probe, establish the cause of the crash, and take appropriate action against individuals whose mistakes could have led to the accident.

The directive follows a road crash involving a truck and a 14-seater matatu that was ferrying pupils of the Ober Boys Boarding School who were travelling home for the April holidays.

During the accident, 4 people died, while 14 others sustained critical injuries but were rushed to the Nyabondo Mission Hospital and are currently recuperating.
