The Kenya Meteorological Department has listed Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa among areas that are set to receive heavy rains for the next five days, between Friday, April 4, to Tuesday, April 8.
Kenya Met Director General David Gikungu on Friday afternoon issued an advisory, warning the residents living in the Central region counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi to brace for heavy rains.
Gikungu said rainfall in the central part of Kenya would begin mostly in the afternoon and extend up to nighttime, further warning that the downpour would be accompanied by thunderstorms.
Heavy rains were also expected in the counties located within the Lake Victoria basin and the Rift Valley region; these counties include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet.
