The United States Agency for International Development Stawi has allocated Sh80 million for various water projects in Turkana County.
The initiative is aimed at improving water accessibility and to address key socio-economic challenges in the region.
The projects include the protection of Borehole 9 in Kanamkemer as well as the Naregae, Kang'alita, and Lokwaliwa water projects.
USAID Stawi's water technical advisor, Job Kitetu, said the projects were at different stages of completion emphasizing that Sh 4 million has been earmarked specifically for safeguarding Borehole 9 in Kanamkemer from destruction and submersion by the nearby river.
