Murang'a Governor Irungu Kang'ata has clarified that the Ksh10,000 given to couples for weddings and an additional Ksh10,000 for childbirth is not meant to increase the population of the county ahead of the 2027 polls.
In a statement released on Tuesday, April 15, Kang'ata said the programme is part of Kang'ata Care, a health insurance scheme targeting vulnerable families in the county.
He also emphasised that the benefits are only available to the registered Kangata care members in Muranga County.
