Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has raised alarm over the purchases and disposals of vehicles in the Fernandes Barasa-led Kakamega County Government.
The senator alleged that there are inconsistencies in the records of the purchased and disposed vehicles in the county, prompting the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget to launch an investigation into the matter. "There has been growing public concern regarding the purchase and disposal of motor vehicles by the County Government of Kakamega.
We are demanding transparency and accountability in the management of county resources," the senator said in a statement to the committee.
The senator, who has always been at loggerheads with Governor Barasa, directed the committee to compel the county management to produce a full, comprehensive list of all motor vehicles acquired by the county from 2014 to date.
