Kakamega County Government will set aside funds to support education and training of street children in various skills.

This follows willingness from the street children who asked for support to go back to school with others asking for training and being equipped to start income-generating activities.

County Secretary Lawrence Omuhaka said there is a need for a structured way of dealing with street children where the county and national government can address their concerns. "We need to engage them; we should take them to technical institutions where they can learn skills that will make them survive in society.

I know most of them are very brilliant," he pointed out.
